Somaya Al-Faqih, writer, journalist, writer, community and human rights activist, and one of the most prominent young media executives in Taiz Governorate. She combined the skills of journalistic work, feminist, community and human rights activism and cultural, literary and poetic creative abilities, as she is considered one of the few female voices in the fields of poetry in Yemen. She has numerous journalistic, cultural, literary and poetic works, in addition to her activity of hosting numerous poetry mornings in previous years within the governorate.

Fellow journalist Sumaya Al-Faqih holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic from Taiz University and also obtained two degrees in the field of journalism and media:

Diploma in Journalism and Editing – Arab Media Academy, Taiz, 2012 AD.

Diploma in Radio and Television – Arab Academy of Media, Taiz, 2013 AD.

In addition to a degree in Computer Science – Institute of Academic Sciences, Taiz in 2010. She enjoys a brilliant presence in journalistic, media, cultural, social and legal circles inside and outside the governorate, through the various journalistic materials she publishes and her literary and legal works in various media in Taiz, the capital, Aden, and other Yemeni cities.

His relationship with journalistic writing began during his university years, where his specialization in Arabic language had a great influence in stimulating his cultural and literary desires and inclinations. She began writing in the field of cultural journalism and literary works elegantly through the cultural pages of Al-Jumhuriya, Al-Thawra, Akhbar Al-Youm newspapers and the cultural and literary supplements published by Al-Thawra Foundation in Sana’a and Al-Jumhuriya in Taiz. Thus, her colleague Sumaya embarked on a distinguished journalistic experience, which encouraged her to make an important decision in her professional life related to qualification and development of personal abilities and skills to subsequently become a distinguished journalistic star.

After obtaining her two diplomas, Somaya Al-Faqih decided to pursue journalism professionally by officially joining several websites, magazines and newspapers, including:

She writes reports, surveys and surveys for newspapers and numerous websites.

In 2014, she won first place in the category “Best news article at the level of Taiz governorate on the results of the national dialogue”, titled “Mansour, our homeland, oh Hadi”, and published it on the Happy Yemen website.

This is in addition to her numerous activities in the societal and feminist fields, such as:

In addition to her journalistic experience, she has participated in various journalistic training and training courses, including:

(Writing journalistic materials, professional safety when covering armed conflicts, preparation of investigative reports, arts of journalistic work, advanced journalistic language skills… and others).

To her credit are added her numerous participations in cultural, intellectual, literary, poetic, social, feminist and legal activities and events, among others.

We also do not forget her active contributions to the poetry mornings she presented at several cultural events held in Taiz over the past years. She has published a collection of poetry entitled “Shugun Al-Rih” and another collection is being published.
